Project Architect

The responsibility of the PROJECT ARCHITECT (PA) will entail the design and the production of a project from conceptual through construction documents, manage a project throughout the construction phase, and maintain a level of quality throughout the project cycle. The PA must be technically competent and well organized to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, be a resourceful and expedient problem-solver, maintain documentation for each project managed, and assure that the project documentation generated accurately reflects the company-wide standards. Above all, the PA must be an avid team player, flexible, and easy to adapt to new concepts and responsibilities. The PA must have personal and extensive contact with his/her team members, the immediate superiors within the corporate organization, and serve as primary contact and coordinator with the consulting engineers. The PA is directly responsible to the principal of ARCHON Associates Inc. The position will be a temporary to full-time permanent opportunity.

Requirements
Must be licensed and NCARB certified.
Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's of Architecture degree from a NAAB school in the United States.
Must have five(5)-years minimum multi-family prior work experience in an architectural firm.
Knowledge of multi-family and single-family residential construction, building codes, accessibility standards, and good communication / rendering skills are essential.
AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketch-Up, MS Office experience is mandatory.

Space Planner/Project Architect

We offer a diverse portfolio consisting of office, medical office, retail, industrial and residential properties. Project Architect/Space Planner required for a fast paced corporate setting. The successful candidate must be able to work on multiple commercial projects and interact with tenants, leasing agents, and construction managers. Must be proficient in finish and furniture selections for corporate commercial tenants. The Project Architect/Space Planner is responsible for completion of on-site surveys, space plans, specifications and construction documents on multiple projects.

Requirements
Minimum 4 years experience in similar capacity or with an architecture/interiors firm.
Space planning, code knowledge and excellent communication skills are essential.
Must be AutoCAD proficient with basic knowledge of building, life safety & ADA codes. Design ability, rendering skills, proficient in the specification of furniture and finish materials are also a job requirement.
Must have a high level of attention to detail, strong initiative and work ethic, presentation skills and excellent prioritization skills for delivery of quality work on schedule.

HDR is in need of a Project Manager - Healthcare for our Architecture office in historic Alexandria, VA. This individual will function as a project manager for Federal Healthcare projects (hospitals, cancer centers, medical centers, etc.) and be involved in business development, managing contracts, clients and project teams. They will plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium sized projects with high degrees of technical complexity and be involved with the production and coordination of several projects concurrently. The Project Manager - Healthcare will also conduct design/development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with Project Managers, Project Architects and other disciplines. Finally, they will also work with the Controller and Principal/Business Unit Director for project reviews, and be responsible for training of personnel as established by strategic plans.

Experience Required:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture.
Must be a Registered Architect.
8(+) years of experience in healthcare architecture.
Must be able to lead a team on Healthcare projects.
Good planning and mentoring skills.
Computer literate with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required.

Description:
HDR is currently in need of a Project Architect for our Architecture office in historic Alexandria, VA. The Project Architect will independently coordinate the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design, development and contract document phases of a project. This will include establishing client and internal meetings and participating in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. They are also responsible for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on schedule, and will review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and then work directly with legal staff to establish and document parameters of the construction contract. They will coordinate with affected disciplines (via addendum, RFIs, CPRs and change orders) to incorporate agreed upon changes into the project documents, and will also provide, on an as needed basis, construction contract administration.
